A ride to Ilam Hall, very pretty countryside a few challenging hills and fantastic views.
It was a dry day when we did this ride. The surface is on tarmac roads which were all in good condition.
We soon met our first climb of the day when we left Wirksworth and took the left hand turn towards middleton, we then continued to climb left again alongside the High Peak Trail. Over the top and through Brassington.
The countryside on this ride is stunning with lovely valleys to cycle through and villages like Alsop en le dale.
We did this ride in February and saw lots of snowdrops and some sunshine.
There is plenty of hills to climb but taking our time we enjoyed the lovely views as we cycled up and down over hills and into dales.
Once at Ilam Hall we were ready for our homemade soup and cake, browsed the NT gift shop used the facilities and began our ride back to Wirksworth.
