Pleasant easy route, mainly on quiet roads and tracks, but not suitable for road bikes as some gravely off-road section present. Scenery varied including Chiltern Hills and Grand Union Canal.
Some paths around Ashridge estate may be muddy in winter.
Hazards and warnings
Off- road descend at Ashridge Estate.
Brilliant and fairly easy route in beautiful landscape of Chilterns. Starts on quiet streets and continues through woodlands of Ashridge Estate to the Monument. Fantastic National Trust cafe at the Monument with huge freshly baked scones and scores of good pubs at Tring Reservoirs and in Aldbury (the truly English village). I really recommend this route! It's suitable for mountain and hybrid bikes, but may need slight alteration if forest paths around Ashridge Estate turn muddy.
